I saw this on SI today. It is nice to say that the Hawks are going to teach the Celtics a lesson about playing hard, but this is still the playoffs. Sometimes teams win a game or two. If the number 8 seed was going to get swept every time, then the number one seed would just get a bye. I definately look foreward to watching the Hawks try to pull an upset tonight in game 5.
Also, the Mavs and the Suns were eliminated last night, and their blockbuster trades didn't exactly work out for them. Its funny. Just because one team got new players doesn't mean that you need to revamp your roster too. Someone needs to get better thinking skills.

With gas prices soaring to amazingly high levels, I saw this on my local newspaper's website and thought it was pretty cool. I have a pickup truck, so I really have been feeling the pinch on the wallet from this gas price hike.
Falcons pull another upset win...i mean the Hawks
So my roomates and I watched the Hawks play game four of thier series. my roomate kept calling them the falcons. Shows you how much people actually watch basketball here in GA. But the Hawks did prevail. Its exciting in a way, the NBA playoffs being relevant in your town and having people actually show up for games. I expected sparse crowds at the two games in Atlanta, but the article I linked to said the arena was actually intimidating. YAY Atlanta! Maybe now my Braves can pull off some wins and get a little better as well.
sad things happen
One of my high school friend's dad passed last week. I found out about his death Saturday when I went home. My parents didn't find out until Friday morning. The funeral was Friday afternoon. That really sucks. I wish I could have been there for him. but life does go on.

PA primary
well, Hilary won by 10...Good for her...Great for the GOP...the Dems will keep fighting all the way to the convention, and I can laugh at them too.McCain might not even face either Hillary or Barack in the general election if it goes to convention. Even the superdegates aren't going to try to break this deadlock.

Fist off, our offense sucks...start h8ittingthe ball with men on base already!
We lose to Washington 6-0 and then Florida 7-2? The braves need to learn to hit with runners on base. We also need to bat more righties against left handed pitching...half of our lineup is lefties or switch hitters, which equals a disaster against south paws...I'm so mad about the Braves right now I can't even post more...

win streak
Well, the Braves are on their longest winning streak of the short season: five games! The shocking thing is that this streak is the longest of the season both this year and last year...which may be a reason we didn't make the playoffs last year. The biggest part about this was also highlighted by Dave O'Brien at the AJC: the back end of the rotation won three in a row. this only happened once last season, and that didn't happen until September. Some out there may think, who cares? If the back three in the rotation combine for 40 or so wins (13.333 each), then we will be fine. The thing is that if we win many games in a row, confidence increases. The Braves need that swagger that comes wtih a winning team. If the back end of the rotation pitches a whole series (as it did against the Dodgers) and sweeps the team, then we have to be feeling good, knowing that our two aces are coming up next. hudson, who by the way has a 2.90 or so ERA this season, and John Smoltz (.53 ERA, which is riddiculus) can then pitch easier, and more freely, not feeling the pressure to pitch a perfect game, or at least 8 innings each outing.
I'll be posting later, both on the Braves, and the PA primary. (thank God it's going to be over. I'm tired of hearing about it.)

sports mayem
well, my intramural softball season is done after tonight, with my last Co-rec game of the season. Its been tough, playing for my men's team, Menace to Sobriety. We only won one game, and it was last night. I really love softball, and GSU is the only school in the country to keep stats for teams. I finnished 8 for 14 on the season, a fairly good year. I bet i finnish better than most of my brothers on the Fraternity Team.
Well, besides softball, there is some MLB action to talk about. I officially hate watching teams who have one year of success. All I have heard about during the Braves-Rockies series is how colorado had this imporoable run. Ok, I get it. they made the World Series against all odds. But seriously, do I need to hear about Yorvit Torrealba's clutch hits during every at-bat this season? Oh, and the Rockies are the first team to beat the Braves by more than one run this season. At least I wasn't watching the game thinking we could come back, and even if we could, the bulpen would just blow it again.
Oh, I can't even begin to talk about the Masters! As soon as I am done with this sentence, I'm going to watch the greatest golf tournament in the history of the universe...See yall later.

SGA is pointless
Man, Student Government has really fallen off at GSU. There are all of one individual running for each of the positions on the Executive Board. What democracy! SGA passed a rule this fall that in order to become a member of the executive board, you must have experience in the senate already. What a crock!
Voting for SGA has been extended a day. It doesn't really matter, there are some senate races where there are two people running, and a person can vote for both. That's not even an election! I can't begin to express the pointlessness of SGA if no one runs for it, and no one cares about it.

well, i didn't get to post about all the games over the weekend, but over all, it was great! My Braves beat the New York Mets two in a row this weekend, along with one rainout. You can see the AP recap here. John Smoltz showed he still has the stuff, pitching 5 innings of shutout ball. What was scarry, though, was his soreness in his shoulder. I hope its just his not being completely in game shape yet.
On another injury note, Captian I'm-always-hurt-and-just-deal-with-it himself, Mike Hampton, got put on the DL again with a strained pectoral. I can't even begin to say what I would like to say about this guy, as every word is a profanity.
We have Colorado tonight as we start a four-game series with the defending NL champs and a 10-game road trip. Here's a great chance to see ole Tommy G pitch for the second time this season.

about time!
well, my braves finally pulled out a win. I proably will be posting a report after most games for the next few weeks...I know, i'm obsessed with the Braves if I run to write a blog post after the games, but its my blog!
I missed most of the game, but i did get to see the offensive exposion at the end. Tex may be finally getting it, and hopefully Francour will pick up the power soon.
Jaiur is gonna be some hot S#$@ before he is done.
